Being Human Returns!

This is great news: Being Human is [returning to BBC Three](http://www.bbc.co. uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2008/11_november/04/human.shtml) as a six part series. I loved the pilot, and hoped at the time that the BBC would commission this funny, intelligent horror series. Well, now they have!

Sadly, it looks like only a single member of the cast will be returning: the awesome Russell Tovey will be reprising his role as the Werewolf George. If I had to pick one of the three Tovey would have been it, so that’s good news.

Beyond that Aidan Turner will be playing the Vampire, and Lenora Crichlow is the ghost. That last one worries me, Andrea Riseborough was superb as Annie and it’s a shame she’s not coming back. Guy Flanagan didn’t exactly do a bad job as Mitchell either, but he’s perhaps more easily replaced.

Crichlow is best known for her part in Sugar Rush, and appeared in the Gridlock episode of Doctor Who. Turner….I have no idea.

Being Human will be shown on BBC in 2009.

Upcoming TV: The Devil, his whore, and the Survivors

In the first of what could become a regular thing here on Is There Food, I wanted to bring to your attention a few TV shows that might be of interest.

First off, and starting tonight, is Apparitions. Martin Shaw plays an exorcist in what could be a great new horror series from the BBC. It’s being hyped as TV’s most controversial drama ever, and the first episode is supposed to feature a particularly grizzly murder. Writer Joe Ahearne created the superb channel 4 Vampire drama Ultraviolet, so it’s got a good pedigree. It’s sure to be worth checking out for fans of this sort of thing, and it’s also on in HD, if you’re that way inclined.

Second, and starting on the 19th, is The Devil’s Whore. Channel 4’s period drama stars John Sim and is set during the English Civil War. The trailer looked good when I caught it the other day, but unfortunately I can’t find anything to link to on the Channel 4 site for more info. So I’ll send you [her e](http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/technology/tx/2008/11/tx_the_devils_whore.htm l) instead.

Finally, on Sunday the 23rd, Terry Nation’s Survivors returns to UK screens albeit in updated form. Starring a number of recognisable faces from Who’s Freema Agyeman and Shaun Dingwall, to Hotel Babylon’s Max Beesley, it also features potential new Dr Who Paterson Joseph. I’m a sucker for end of the world drama, so I’ll definitely be giving this a go. More info and a trailer at the BBC’s site here.

Work In Progress: New Theme

I’ve pulled the trigger on a new theme I’ve been playing with tonight. Mainly because Twitter Tools digests are broken, and I don’t want no new content popping onto the blog. So, Tweets will now sit in the sidebar, and will appear as I make them, rather than at the end of each day.

I’m going to be putting up RSS feeds that don’t include the Tweets, for anyone that finds them annoying. If you enjoy them and want to join the conversation, please sign up at Twitter and follow me.

The theme is very much a work in progress at the moment, and I’ll add bits over the next few days. There’s a big empty bit at the bottom of the homepage, and some of the sidebar stuff probably looks quite odd.

I’m also aware that the sidebar Tweets don’t look right (doubling up of the t icon), but that should clear up after I’ve posted some stuff.

Hope you like the new look, and I’ll try to get it finished as soon as I can. I’ll also try to get some more proper content on the site, including reviews of the films I saw at Frightfest’s all-nighter a few weeks ago.
